The reception staff were very friendly, and it was cheap.

tv reception was very poor, floorboards were very creaky which meant the room was very noisy with other guests moving about, the whole building felt run down

I liked the accessibility to the centre of Canterbury

Comfort of the room let down by no control on the scalding hot heated towel rail which made the bathroom uncomfortably hot. Stair carpet very worn in places & dangerous. No lift and steep stairs made it difficult for my husband who walks with a stick - we had not been made aware of this.

    Character of the building

Breakfast was poor, awful coffee, solid egg, cold baked beans....Otherwise very nice

  • Older travelers

Easy and free parking at a city centre location.

Hotel is a bit shabby, especially the stairs and hallways. Also the floorboards are very creaky.

    Not much!!

The room was very small and my wife and I had to share a 4 foot double bed!! Normally a double bed is at least 4 foot 6 inches and I am 6 foot 3 inches. The only good thing was that it was very intimate!! The TV did not work and when we asked foir extra biscuits for our coiffee, we were told there was non available. There were also no savoury snacks in the bar. When we complained again when we were checking out the receptionist would only say that the hotel was due to close soon!!

  • Older travelers

The staff were extremely helpful and the bedroom was fine

The condition of the corridors was absolutely disgusting and the common areas of the hotel need a complete revamp

  • Older travelers
    6.2

The Hotel is well located for easy access to the shops and sights and offers good value. The staff were pleasant, helpful and efficient.

The hotel itself is rather "tired" and would benefit greatly from a modest refurbishment.

Location and convenience to City centre

Entrance and hallways very tired and baddly warn

Staff were great, breakfast was okay

TV did not work but we were moved to an upgrade (even better value for £55). Floors creaked, but all part of the charm of the hotel

It was old style and had character and felt homely.

The television reception did not work which was rather disappointing as I was looking forward to unwinding in front of a good film.

  • Older travelers

Tle location was good. Sadly the hotel is very tired and jaded - a trait followed by the staff.

As above the hotel needs refurbished and restaffed, clearly particularly the management. Principal corridors and rooms eg. bar were unhoovered and unsightly. Glasses, plates and dishes were left on outside tables from 2.00pm to 7.00pm. Not impressive.

There was not much that I can say that was good apart from the staff was ok with my needs

I was staying in room 65 and the tv didn't work probberly and the loo didn't flush as well when I rang and spoke to the woman at front desk she said that she will send some one but no one came and when I told them about the loo he said he can't do any thing as there wasn't any one there to sort it out and I had just been to the loo and done a poo so had to sleep in the room all night with a smell I would like to have a refund on my room

  • Single
    7.8

ease of parking good location to discover area close to shops

breakfast staff we arrived at 09 30 unsure of seating arrangement no one there when served no good morning not asked how any one would like eggs cooked

  • Group of friends
    9.6

I liked the location, just outside the city walls and the very friendly staff. My friend and I had the bicycles with us and although they didn't have a bicycle storage, they promptly found a room where we could store them overnight.
